Anyone here ever thread their own barrel?

I cut the threads on the first on the lathe with a thread point......the other on the lathe with a die.......seamed to work just as well

If threading a barrel I’d certainly use a lathe and thread it after dialing in the bore especially if planning on putting on a can.

Yea, that was my worry...a baffle strike. I like doing things myself. This will go to a 'smith.

The main problem is most factory barrels aren’t even close to concentric on the barrel OD so you always dial in off the bore. Also with a lathe you can cut a good true straight shoulder for everything to lock up against.
Good idea on sending it to the smith.

I put a live center in chuck and a dead center in the tail stock.....not much of a chance for the threads to not be concentric to the bore...

I leave threading to a qualified gun smith, chance of screw up cost $ if you have a lathe you already know what your doing. And have spent a lot more on tools than a Gunsmithing fee.
