Bear bait site registration

I found a couple spots and got coordinates for my wife?s bait site registration for the San Juan unit in Utah. I know a couple of guys baiting on the same side of the mountain a few miles away who have already had their sites approved. Is there a minimum distance you have to be from another site before its approved or does the UDOW just make sure everybody is not baiting on top of one another?

I drew last year and called Price with coordinates and had to tweak one of mine because someone had one already approved for what they felt was too close. I really don't recall her giving me an exact distance, but they should be able to tell you. I know it's a pain to call and get the right person, but it's well worth it to talk to someone in person , I think. Good luck to you guys on the hunt. It's a lot of fun!

It can also be really frustrating if you are competing with someone else and their bait site. Bears will travel a long way to hit a bait. A mile or two is nothing for a bear to roam. It is first come first serve on registering a bait. I would save yourself and the other guys some frustration and look for another spot if possible.
