Bear Draw

Hoping to draw the San Juan spring tag as a resident with 11 points. They added an additional 5 tags so my chances look pretty good. Anybody else got a good shot at drawing this year?

Sorry to hijack the post but someone inform me. What do you do with the meat off those? Is it even edible really? I know it is prone to some nasty parasites and such. They seem like a walking biohazard between that and the ticks.

Ive got 11 points. I am not sure what to do this year with all the snow. I may put in for a multi season tag, jsut so I can hunt. I am affraid the hound season may be a bust his year in many areas with all the snow.

11 points for me and just buy another point this year. Should have one good bear hunt here in Utah in a few years. Will be going back to Idaho and hunting them in May. Good luck to all that put in to the draw.

I honestly don't know. I've heard of people eating them but I'd be leary myself from the reasons you've mentioned.

I killed my only bear in 2014, long story, but we could only take back straps... BBQ'd them and were surprisingly good, and that was a spring bear. Not sure, but I wouldn't hesitate eating again.
