I have a bunch of monopoly money and some of those gold foil wrapped chocolate candy coins. That's sort of my retirement plan.

I wouldn't touch it. Gamble. But those who did gamble made some change. Lots of people hoping to get rich quick have been getting into it though.

The crypto market is correcting itself and some that got in within the last 6 months, lost money from what I understand. My bro in law hit me up 3 weeks ago. He had made $3500 in a couple of months. I asked him how it was going and he said he sold his stock as it was coming down...he made a little bit. I always thought it was a sketchy item....like baseball cards. Aren't baseball cards made of cardboard, my Dad would ask. LOL. Isn't bitcoin virtual money, I ask?? Same idea...

I got a lecture from my cousin's husband back in June of 2017, warning me that bitcoin was going to take off, replace the US dollar and the Chinese yuan as the world currency. He claimed the dollar would collapse in Feruary 2018, replaced by bitcoin. So..... stay tuned....:D

I grinned. He bought a bision herd thirty years ugh...... and he's still paying the Bank what he lost on those. He's gambled on every "unconventional" scheme and product that has come down the turn pike and lost every gamble he's made, usually taking some friends down with him.

In December, I was hoping he had dumped all he had in bitcoin, back in June but..........some are not destine to great fortunes, he didn't have enough cash to buy in at $2,500 a pop.

Too bad.

Me, on the other hand, I like to place $10 blackjack bets at the smaller casinos in Nevada. I think I'm doing better than he has done, over all. Course......... maybe he's laying low and cashed a big check that he's keeping quiet about........ I'm betting not.

Don't bet money you can't afford to loose cuz there's a game going somewhere that will take your bet, 24/7. Once in a while the roulette marble lands on green, but I won't bet on it. I will be happy for the guy that's got his $20 on green when it happens, I never begrudge another man's good fortune, even if I think he's nuts for laying it on the felt.

I've got an Easy Bake Oven for sale if you guys would like. I guarantee you that if you hold on to it for 10 years, you'll more than likely sell it for more than you paid for it. Collectibles are where its at....just ask Chum Lee.

2Lumpy I too have a friend that loses his mind every time he hears a get rich quick idea! Although he did buy the stock POT on the exchange, he had several hundred thousand shares at .03 or around there. It ran up to .58 I ask him if he still owned the stock an told him to get out NOW. He called me a couple of days later and it got to .70 I think and he told me how dumb I was because if he would have listened to me he wouldn't of been up all that additional monies. Guess what! The stock crash from there on and he chased it all the way down to the bottom. I guess I wasn?t so dumb huh?

Hope all is well with you and yours

Your friend

How's everybody feeling about their decisions on Bitcoin now?

I sure wish I had bought it a few years ago. Now I'm afraid its a bubble... but of course I thought that when it crossed $8k too.

I think it should be a small part of everyone's portfolio (5%). I know guys that have made a ton and lost a ton. A small buying program of the main ones (BTC, ETH, LINK, etc) and you will be ok. Much like stocks the guys who are really making money treat it as a full time job.

I am not sure how much more of a run BTC has for this cycle. I would be more bullish on ETH, LTC, DOT, LINK, BNB, ADA, XLM, XTZ. I think ETH at least should get to 1200 to 1500.

Overall it is a cool concept and to send money it is way faster and cheaper than a wire.

Educate me.

As best I can tell, "crypto currency" is an arbitrary and variable unit of measure used by tech companies to barter for certain computing services, which people can bet on to either increase or decrease in value, and which has no intrinsic value.

What am I missing here?

@Bluehair, I'm still trying to figure out the intricacies but this video helped me understand initially that it's more than a way for people to launder money.

@LivingTheDream, I am hesitant too on Bitcoin but did start buying ethereum a while ago. I feel it has an intrinsic value that the others don't necessarily possess.

I think the key to know is that this isn't like buying GM or Ford stock. For better or worse, it's highly volatile so don't spend anything you're afraid to lose.

Some stocks and Bitcoin feel more like gambling than investing to me. I don’t understand Bitcoin anyway.
As hard as it is to watch Bitcoin, Tesla and others just go up, up and up without me, I also don’t want to be the fool who buys at the top and loses a bundle.
I’ve been able to beat the S&P for years and don’t want to start getting too greedy and have it backfire.

I met a kid the other day that put money in before he went on an LDS mission. He made $10,000,000 and he's 25.

Crypto is fooking evil. There's a reason why they are pushing us away from a cash society... and it ain't good.
