Central Mtns, Nebo

I am a first year hunter. I drew the Central Mtns, Nebo archery hunt.
From what I've been reading there isn't much deer left in this area. I am looking for advice. Where should I focus most of my time in such a big area?
Any advise or tips would be greatly appreciated.

False, there's plenty of deer left, some studs too. Problem is, they tend to live in the least accessible places that can be found on the unit. Most of those places are well above 9,000? and not anywhere near a road. Focus in these places. You?ll find deer

LAST EDITED ON Jun-16-18 AT 11:10PM (MST)[p]I was thinking of trying around chicken creek? Do you know anything about this area?
Thanks.

Get high and glass. Then glass some more. Bed them down, then go in for the kill. I spent lots of time on Nebo finding out where the deer, elk, goats, and moose were.

When you find your own spots you don't have to worry about stepping in someone?s toes.

I know that everyone with a Nebo archery deer tag hunts the hell out of the chicken creek area. I'd give my tag back before I hunted around there with everyone else

Stubaby, i also think i know where that is. One thing is for sure, hornkiller and his brother probably know Nebo better than anyone. They grew up on that unit and studied it. Much respect for their knowledge of nebo and surrounding areas.

That's a good tag Jeremy. I like to hunt high on the bowhunt (altitude high?). Wind in my face, lots of glassing. Scout as much as you can, bucks are very patternable til they shed the velvet. Be out early, stay out late. Fun to tip toe thru pines in the heat of the day. Helps to have another hunter along to guide you in to them or pinch them/
bump them to each other. Best of luck! Let us know how u did.
