Circling back

I just wanted to circle back and post the follow up to our hunt. I don’t typically post hunt results but I felt the need to contribute to this site. I have really enjoyed following you guys for years. Thank you to all the members that reached out with info.

As most of you know the weather was warm for the start of archery season. We started our hunt on the first day of the season. Not much going on in the way of rutting activity but then we didn’t expect much to start with.
I killed mine on the 4th day up on the mountain. Really fun hunt, I watched him bed down from two hundred yards after initially spotting him from over a mile away from a different ridge. The final stock took an hour and forty-five to close the distance and I was able to shoot him in his bed. He only made it 150 yards. I had plans to hold out for a bigger bull but when I am having fun in the moment I will take the shot every time.

My buddy didn’t have any luck archery hunting so we returned for the start of rifle season and he killed a big 5 point on the third morning.

I would recommend the unit for rifle hunting for sure but it’s a tough archery hunt on the mountain. The winds really swirls in those basins.
Pretty easy access and lots of elk to see.

If you don't mind my asking how many points did it take to draw that unit? Guessing you are a non-res?
Thanks - and great bulls especially that big 5 that is a great bull!!
