Cleaning

I pulled out my Swarovski spotter today and noticed the lenses were a little tiny bit dirty . I've always kept it in a protective cover and the lenses stayed nice and clean . I have never had the need to clean this scope before and I'm nervous . I use a Leopold lense pen on my lesser glass but I'm almost afraid to bone my one piece of alpha glass . Any suggestions ?

LAST EDITED ON Jul-18-16 AT 01:36PM (MST)[p]I first use some dust off aerosol spray. Next I use the brush from my cleaning kit. Followed by some lens cleaning spray and micro fiber cloth. Be gentle and you will be just fine. I use the optics cleaning kit cabelas sells. Comes in a handy little case also.

Swarovski has some cleaning information out there.
You may have to look for it, but its out there somewhere.

The one thing I found interesting was that they advise you not to use glass cleaner.
Or any cleaner that contains alcohol or ammonia in the cleaning fluid.

They can break down the coatings on the glass.

Kind of interesting. You think " its glass" this is glass cleaner. Ought to be good.

But your house windows and glass table tops don't have optical coatings them.

I use a carson dust blaster to blow the gritty stuff and dust off.

Carry a fine, soft hair brush in your pack.

Use microfiber and a cleaning liquid to get water spots and other stuff off.

Swarovski makes a cleaning kit.
Contains wipes, microfiber, a brush, and cleaning fluid.

Or you can just build your own kit with pieces from other manufacturers.
Zeiss makes a good optics cleaning fluid.
