Clear messages in red at top of page?

Since the new look on here it shows I have 698 messages in a small red number at the top of the forums page. When I read one it reduces that number by one. Is there a way to clear that to zero without clicking on every message and without erasing messages?

You will probably need to select them all and mark them as read. Sorry. I’m not aware of an easier way.
