If you happen to have a CO unit 61 3rd season elk tag and want to swap info let me know. I have a deer tag for the same hunt and will be scouting 3 days prior to the season.
Good luck bud!I’ll be up there too helping a friend who has a cow tag. I will be camped at Windy Point.
I've been up there is some pretty serious snow. We still made it through Divide. My Cousin used to run the blade to blade the snow off. That said, It's been years since It has snowed very much during 3rd season. At least any that I've been hunting.I was wondering if divide road is always accessible or how much snow can shut down access
Thanks for following through. Congrats on a fine-looking buck.Closing the loop here. I had a very enjoyable solo trip even though the weather was way to warm and dry for this late of a 3rd season in Colorado but sometimes that is just my luck and served as a good reminder that waiting so long to burn points isn’t the best option for me. Not being much of a mule deer hunter I was very happy killing this buck and he was probably the second biggest buck i had seen in 4 days of hunting. Thanks for the few guys who shared some info on this hunt.

I seen one herd with 3 small bulls and about a dozen cows the day before the season while scouting. They were up on the plateau at higher elevation. The areas I ended up focusing for deer was down low and there was no elk sign.Nice buck! Congrats!
Did you see many elk?
