Is it still pretty green up high?

Do you CO guys expect it to be greener longer than normal this year with all the rainfall?

"Now we come to the most important pre-season question. Do you just want to go elk hunting, or do you want to bring one back? If you desire the latter, there is no substitute for hard work. The bigger your goal, the harder the work required to get there. Good luck!" - Cameron R. Hanes

The western portion of the state has not enjoyed the moisture that the eastern half and northern mountains of the divide have. The Grand Mesa area is very dry with some shrubs already turning yellow due to drought.

I don't think that it will be greener longer we are already having some almost freezing nights and the berry bushes are showing a hint of yellow. We have had great moisture up until about two to three weeks ago now nothing. All the storms now are starting at about the continential divide and dumping on the other side.

This was taken this past weekend in Southern CO near the Continental divide at around 12,000 ft. Still pretty green!

Two weekends ago, it there was frost on the ground and ice in the creeks on the continental divide at sun up. There have been occasional snow falls up high for the past month already as well.

I was at the same location as nmwapiti picture on the 6th of Aug. Still looks green. Looks like the elk my still be high come the opener of archery.
