Coeur D alene

It’s fantastic! Vibrant community in close proximity to everything outdoors. Hunting, fishing, hiking, boating, biking, skiing, you make it. Close to an international airport. Good health care and a booming local economy with tons of growth.

CDA is still considerably less expensive than many places in the west. You can live in the Spokane Valley if you want, or get a waterfront property if you have the coin.
Winters are real, and more fog than most would think, but great place in general. It is still not a big city, but has some infrastructure issues related to growth. Has definitely boomed in the last decade, but where hasn't? Still a small town mentality (parochial) without the big town amenities, but an excellent outdoorsmen location.

Its a nice place to visit as for living there... Sister was going to college up there and that town at the time was full of yuppies and wannabe vest wearing outdoorsmen. If youre that type you will fit right in ( a lot are now days).

Wouldn’t say I’m like that. But can’t be worse then roaring fork valley of colorado.

If your job is taking you to Couer d'Alene living in Spokane won't help you avoid Idaho income tax. And no income tax isn't all it's cracked up to be. They make up the difference somewhere, property tax, vehicle registration, gas taxes, sales tax....

Coeur d'Alene is very much a resort, primarily summer, town. Lot's of summer homes. But those people are Memorial to Labor Day. I'm not sure there are too many "wanna be" sportsmen. North Idaho is primarily public land and sees a lot of pressure, the guys who do well here know what they're doing...

Idaho is beautiful, it can get a little grey up there throughout the winter, good people, good hunting and as far as yuppies it’s nothing like Colorado or the roaring fork valley.

Drug Store Cowboys I would expect or Flat Brimmer's as they say on MM

Amazing in August, if you like lakes. More winter than down here in SW idaho. Economy ain't bad, it's growing. Can't deny there are some nutz in that country, but that's pretty much true anywhere these days, depending on your point of view. We certainly have our share here. Downside is the lack of mule deer.
