Cold weather hiking boots

Anybody have a recommendation? I have Schnee's pac boots but don't know if there is a better option for mountain hiking. Or for that matter out here on the prairie.

I have two pair. Danners elkunter 1000 boots. Use them when I am not walking that much. They give good support but are too hot of you are on the move

I also like my Kentreks mountain extreme 400 boots. They fit well right out of the box with very little break in. Plenty of insulation And support if you are moving quite a bit.

I would also say that boots worked better and my feet were happier when I switched to merino wool socks. Light and medium weight depending on conditions.
