I believe the Hornady FPB bullets have been discontinued (at least in 300 gr). I haven't been able to find them in over a year and switched over to Thor.

yes they have, but you can still run across them. I still have to list them simply due to that matter. I know sportsmans warehouse had some the last time i was there. Small mom and pop stores too.

I guess they werent loading as easily as they had claimed!

A few more for your list:

No excuses
Bull shop bullets

And you didn’t mention Federal BOR 350 gr lead bullets

Better is a relative term. FPBs have done well for me (4 elk) and haven’t had anything but good results with their terminal performance.

Now if you said Thors are a tougher bullet you would get no argument from me. But they take a bit more planning: finding out the right size for each different gun and being sure to order enough in case they run out in the fall. Hopefully with new ownership they will be produced in bigger quantities. Don’t know about that yet.

But now that FPBs are discontinued that is a moot point anyway. But the Federal BORs in 350 gr lead seems to be pretty close from what I hear (haven’t tried them yet)

Also, if you wanted to try Thor’s for the first time right now, they are out of the sizing packs ☹

You're right, it is relative. I went with the one-size-fits-all version of the Thor and they work great with my gun. The reason I like them better is because they load easier and they're more accurate (not that there's a huge difference).

That is what was nice about FPBs (and the BORs I guess). One size fits all.

But dang, Thors aren’t cheap, esp in the one size fits all......!
