Ten or Eleven years ago I sat and watched a bachelor herd of mule deer bucks 8 of them and there were like 3 of the bigger bucks fighting that same way against a smaller buck and kept chasing him away but he would come back and they would stand up and box him the same way,watched them for about 45 mins,I didn't have a video camera then, but it would have been great to get on video,

I have seen does do this alot, but not bucks to this extent. Maybe an occasional front hoof warning while in velvet. I think they are in velvet, which is very sensitive, which would explain the reason for the slap fighting...
