Covid and Taxidermy

I left the deer I killed in Colorado last year at a Colorado taxidermist. They said it would take about a year. So, the year was up and thought I would give them a call to check the status.

They said the tannery they used shut down for two months and were slow returning capes even after that. They were still receiving capes after the 2020 hunting season had started. So , looks like its going to take a few months longer than planned.

Covid has been a nightmare for almost everyone that manufacturers a product. Tanneries getting shut down, eye manufacturers closed, all those deer are made using dozens of parts and chemicals and most of those manufacturers have gone through shutdown at least once which makes you slowdown.

Then the personel problems are even worse depending on your state or municipality. Say one of your employees tests positive. Yep all your employees want or have to quarantine. So you basically shut down again. Then somebody screws up and says their wife tested positive. Now you may not have to quarantine but the news has everyone so scared your shop goes into meltdown. If she has it then he has to have it and be asymptomatic and he is going to infect all of us and we'll all die? Sounds crazy right???? Well thats the reality of this bullchit. I've seen established companies brought to their knees in the last eight months because of insane employee behavior. Then you have a 28 year old county judge get on TV and tell everyone that their bosses are greedy and "making" you go to work is murder and suicide. That crap actually happened here. Plus the government is handing out money like never before so millions don't want to work. Its actually a pay cut to go do your job.

Its been a little tough running a business in America lately.

(Not if you have a taxidermist that does his own tanning?)
Taxidermist's are not in the business to do tanning, they are in the taxidermy business.

Well i know 2 different guys that tan and taxi everything they touch. so I guess I will have my mounts back before all the guys using taxi's that have to send capes out!

At my wife’s job there are people ( especially young ones ) who are using and abusing it to get paid time off. They say they where exposed so they can’t come in by the time they schedule, take and get results there off for a week. Several have done this 2 or 3 times already and apparently there’s nothing they can do about it .

Fortunately I tan my own so I didn't have that problem. A taxidermist friend of mine sent his hides in before covid and then the tannery shut down for 2 or 3 months he said.
