Surprised this hasn't been brough up yet, but has anybody looked at the CPW Commission Meeting Documents for the Nov 16-17 meeting? Looks like they are considering making changes to the NW units hit hard by the winter kill. See the following link:
The 3 issues pertaining to NW units start on page 24 and go through page 30.
1. Should CPW require an antler point restriction for all antlered elk taken on Ranching For Wildlife properties located in the Bear’s Ears (E-02) and White River (E-06) elk herds for the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 hunting seasons?
2.Should antlered rifle licenses valid on public land for the 2nd and 3rd seasons be limited within the Severe Winter Zone in DAU E-2 (Bears Ears) GMUs 3, 301,4, 441, 5, 14, and 214, and portions of DAU E-6 (White River) GMUs 11, 211, 12,13, 131, 231, 23, and 24 for the 2024 and 2025 hunting seasons?
3. Should data analysis unit (DAU) PH-9 be closed for doe pronghorn hunting for all methods of take?
In my opinion these, are all 1 year too late, but better late than never. Even though I absolutely hate RFW, you know it's bad when the RFW ranches want to impose changes on themselves.
