Credit Card Hits

Communication goes a long ways. There are full-time folks within their agency who are Information specialists. They should be more communicative on what’s going on as I’m sure their phones are slammed.

seems really dysfunctional. I hope they learn from this but it seems like every year something goes wrong

I think at this point when they run the draw and someones credit card is denied, that they need to call them and give the person the opportunity to pay it over the phone too f&g, this is just such bs at this point

I just found out this morning my CC had an unauthorized charge for $39.57. I am thiniking I am just going to suck it up for now, and hope the draw happens soon. I will report the fraud after. Does anyone know how long I have to report fraud to my bank and still get the fraud charges revered?

Set up your card account to notify you ANYTIME there is a "card not present" transaction. That takes care of you knowing it, and documents the info for the CC company

I looked at my portal and everything looks to be up to par, it shows my apps, points and seems to be up to date. Don’t know if that means much of anything at this point.

I believe AZG&F actually have until April 2, 2021 to mail out tags. I believe we all (myself included) got used to finding our early (via backdoor credit card hits) and now we expect it to be the norm? I don't mind waiting to ensure it's done correctly. Having said that, hurry up already! :)
They also "have" two days until leftover apps are accepted. Deadlines mean nothing to them.

Well I am in the east and had to wait until I got home to put in for NM with about 40 minutes to spare.

As a result AZ will likely be out tomorrow with my first choice followed by my first choice in NM. Those will be followed by a pink slip and a divorce by the end of Sept.
? it's easier to get a new wife than it is to draw a premium elk tag in Arizona & New Mexico - Good Luck!! ?

Tomorrow has to be the day. A friend of mine's portal showed “drawn”. A while later it went back to “pending”. My still say pending as well. He sent me the screen shot when it said “drawn”.

Did it look like this? Because thats the latest "prank" going around. Just edited from last year. He edited it about 5 times after everyone pointed out the mistakes that didn't match up with the hunts and tag #'s.

It's interesting to see how many folks here have unauthorized charges on their cards. Last year I had someone do a small amount about a week "after" I entered my info for the AZ draw. A week later they dumped nearly $3k in charges. The draw was the only thing I used my card for prior to that so it always had me thinking there was something tied to security of the site. Granted, that's just one way of many my info could have been compromised but always made me wonder.

New Mexico has Arizona to thank for me not applying in New Mexico this year - first time in a long time. I’m sure they won’t feel the impact of my money missing, but it would be interesting to know how many people didn’t apply in New Mexico because of Arizona. That number will probably be swallowed up by increases in other applicants anyways.

Also didn’t apply, so at least 2 of us.

I agree with you and usually do, but I already have a couple of big hunts this year.
I never put in for more than one big game tag in another state now until I get the results from the last one, I drew 3 le elks in 2016 in 3 states, and even though it sounds like a great problem to have, its not! its a lot of money and ton of hunting hard. you get burned out after the first one and by the last one you are willing to shoot a spike!

I’ll take that problem!

I keep saying that will happen someday, so far it hasn't. Last year was 29 applications out. Drew 2 tags, only one was a for sure. I do try to plan them out as best I can but someday it may happen.

In AZ with zero points?!? Things that make you go Hmmmm! ?
Right!? I was fully expecting not to draw, just building points. In fact I was planning another hunt around that time. So when I saw the credit card notification pop up on my phone I thought WTF!?

I knew I was a long shot for a rifle tag. I was hoping my dad would get 3a/c Early Archery with 17 NR. Guess we’ll try again next year with 19!

Still going to keep my fingers crossed the card hit is just late ?

Well I got the first part right, AZ was out today, so I am patiently sitting here with my 2 points waiting for my early archery tag to hit :):):)

I was hoping someone else already asked the question so I wouldn’t have to, lol...so how long till we supposedly find out which unit we’ve drawn?!

Ill have is 3 years of lost points! portal still says zero points for me
hopefully they will show back up someday
AZ took my money and left me with zero points

I would almost expect a late charge for that because last year all nr with 13+ drew a tag and it's hard to believe there was point creep on that hunt this year.

With 18k more apps there will be point creep on just about everything.

New applicants don't have bonus points so would have no effect on point creep
May be a few in that haven’t-applied-for-four-years group (but still have points) that did apply this year. But I suspect most are new applicants with no points.

It actually may add to the point creep. With the way that AZ does the draw if everyone has a chance it actually can have a pretty interesting effect. Look at most of the draw data quite a few tags go to the 1-5 point range.

Do you know what point creep is? It's regarding the number of bonus points needed to get a guaranteed tag in the bonus pass. While more people applying may lower random odds it has no effect on point creep.

You need to know how many guys at each point level have been riding the pine with points only and they don't show up in the draw reports. If AZ is anything like WY there are a **** ton; WY averages less than 1/3 of all applicants with points at each point level actually applying for an Elk tag.

You can still look at the number of each point holder for each animal and get an idea of how many you're working with but I agree when a few random guys with a bunch of points apply it throws things off.
