Draw results/ where is the excitement!!!

It's really interesting that there's not 100+ post with all the excitement and all the anticipation for the idaho draw. Is it the rising cost of a license? Or is it because the general tags sold out so quickly?
I was kind of surprised the results didn't come out Friday afternoon. I wonder if the amount of applications is higher than normal like all the other states?

I think the excitement will fire up after they've dropped the super tag results. Right now I think were all a little shell-shocked from that.......

Hell they haven't even drawn the Super Tags, how can i get excited about the Controlled Hunts, definetly a FUBAR!!

I would go with the end of this week. They got their practice run done with the Super Tags, and now it's time for the real thing!!

I wonder if others feel the way that I do that Idaho's quality no longer justifies the application, IMO. That would certainly explain the lack of excitement.

This is the first year in 18 that I didn't apply, and I can give the names of four other people that I know personally that didn't apply either.

The costs are too high and the hunting has plummeted as far as animals and the people that don't obey rules like Motorized Vehicle Rule. It's no fun to hike your butt off just to have a dozen guys on wheelers drive up the closed road behind you. My feeling is there are other places to go that are better hunting experiences.

I doubt the odds will improve much for NR though because of the way they do the draw. Good luck to those that applied.

I could understand that, but I bet like other states that Idaho apps will be up this year. As far as better hunting experiences - unless you have the big bucks, there aren’t that many places in the west where a person can hunt antlered animals without years of applying or getting lucky.

I think that because of the price of a license and no chance to fall back on a general tag that many people did not pit in for Idaho this year. The numbers of people i know that would normally put in are way down.

$200+ for a chance to draw a tag and nothing to fall back on, i think will push people away...
I hope it does.

10+ Years putting in and have never drawn Deer or Elk. ??‍♂️ But if your name is not in the hat you cant draw... so they keep getting my money....

Draw odds have plummeted since the IDFG instituted the idiotic rule of passing a tag on to a minor child or grandchild and lowering the age to 10. Lots of moms and grandparents who have never hunted suddenly applying for trophy hunts. Add to that the tens of thousands of move ins and the draws really don’t get this old lifetime resident too excited anymore. What used to be relatively easy to draw hunts are very difficult to draw now. I still get excited for a minute when I see that the results are up, but reality is I will likely not draw a mediocre tag and be left to fight it out in a general hunt. Grateful for that opportunity though.

If you think the quality has dropped, you are absolutely right. Just wait this drought is just warming up

Yep. The odds don’t justify the cost to apply.

I don't think its just the odds or quality driving the lack of enthusiasm. Folks are just in a blah mood due to explosive growth, explosive land and home prices and being beaten down for the last year and a half with a pandemic. Add in unrelenting attacks from both sides of the political aisle.

Yeah I think you’re right! Lots of grumbling but I think you nailed the reason

I would tend to agree. Idaho has gotten a lot "smaller" in the last 5 years.

I’ve been following multiple times daily for a good word on results being released. So when should we know?

Yeppers ??

Have more than enough mounts/antlers here in Idaho so I'm at point in my life where if I don't draw no biggy just fill the freezer with OTC deer and elk again.

If you think applicant numbers will be down, you're delusional. 20%+ YOY applicant increases in multiple states, for the past couple years in a row now. Sucks. I do agree with some above. If I was a NR, I would likely skip ID. The value is diminishing quickly.

I think the regs still say by 7/10, yeah? Haven't looked. I'm sure
after the MSG debacle, a bit more proofing will be required!

Yep. I continue to put in for limited deer and elk just because I buy a license for spring bear hunt and only costs app fees.

I’d being willing to give that up as long as IDFG creates a dozen or so any weapon rut elk and a dozen or so rut deer hunts for the youth.

No excitement as the odds for drawing keep getting worse. I put in then pretty much forget about it. If it happens then I get excited.

Even though odds get worse there is still excitement knowing there’s a chance. On the moose draws this year odds went down significantly in the hunt I put in for and luckily pulled in a party draw with a buddy

Elkoholic you are 100 percent Right. Can't Draw a tag without putting in for it. On the other side of things there are over the counter opportunities in a lot of other units.

Draw was ran earlier this week, just going thru and double/triple checking to confirm who drew is eligible so there’s no mistakes like the sheep draw is my understanding. Seems to be results coming out next week.

My prediction:
Just like most other states, they will post the results at 4:55 PM today so they don't have to deal with the onslaught of phone calls after they come out.

Looks like it wont be today either.

The Big Game Controlled Hunt drawing results have not yet been completed as of June 28, 2021, at 9:13 a.m. MDT.
Please check back for weekday updates until the draw is completed. Next check-in will be on Tuesday, June 29, by 10 a.m. MDT.

Maybe they should spend a little more time running the draw and a little less telling us they haven’t done it yet

It's not the fact we havent had the draw yet, i really dont mind waiting, it's that there is no way in hell it should take this long to get the results. Nevada had theirs out in 10 days, and why is it that Idaho is the last to post the results. My 15 year old Grandson could figure this out, it's not Rocket Science!!!

Population growth and increased amount of applications broke the system. I.e. our chances of drawing a tag are nil. Or niller

State employees don't even start thinking about work until Thursday afternoons. Then it's Friday afternoon before anything gets accomplished. We have at least 4 more days.

After years of complaining, the fish and game gave the draw to a 3rd party vendor to do. So the IDFG really isn’t involved until it’s posted

How many tags and applicants does California have? God, I hate that state. Cockroaches are fleeing the sinking ship and infesting every state around them, destroying all they touch...anyway...back to waiting on IDFG to get the results out.
Yea and they bring all of their socialistic ideas with them

All true, problem was when California started going downhill, collectively the nation just ignored it, "oh well it's just California", people laughed at it, mocked it, failed to realize it would export all it's lunacy to the rest of the nation.

yeah ts only the 5th largest economy in the world. what could that affect...

I received two unsuccessful emails from Utah this year and of course the Idaho Supertag Deer Unsuccessful. I have Deer and Pronghorn left to hope for when this one gets posted and a raffle ticket for Deer in Vernon Utah. It would be a great joy to get one but if not I will still enjoy General unit hunting. I think this week or next for sure on this drawing .

Every red state blames it's liberals on California...?

Yea,

but you actually getting the good laundry (in most cases) Many of the people that I know that are moving to Idaho are like-minded people that are not going to bring their California values to Idaho.

yeah unfortunately they brought their money and it's making property values go through the roof.....

It's all a chain reaction, The small ag communities in California have gotten overrun by people moving out of the big cities. So you cant blame people who want to find more like minded people, like idahoans.

??‍♂️I don't know look at it as a compliment!!!

last time i was in idaho hunting i ran into a group of guys when we were hunting.they were all really cool except one guy! and he was a total dick. I asked his friends,
"whats that guys deal?"

They said "don't mind him, he moved here from California 10 years ago and he really does not like Californians coming to Idaho" ?

I think they’re waiting to post the results when this thread reaches 100. We’re getting close
Ok, this is # 75. Lol
It sure would be nice if we knew Idaho’s results before tomorrow nights deadline for Colorado’s second draw. Probably not going to happen but I sure can wish for it. ?, Good news, it’s not Wyoming who takes over 1k from the NR for an elk application and sits on it for 6 months or AZ who completely messed everything up earlier. Now that was a disaster.

Good luck!!

Btw, the only thing California gets right is their big game draw. They turn it around in about a week. Cant draw nothing, be at least they don't keep us waiting. ??‍♂️

A California "conservative" is an Idaho Democrat.

"Next check-in will be on Thursday, July 1, by 10 a.m. MDT"

WTF is with this "checking in" crap? How can they possibly not know when results will be available this far after the deadline?

Looks like I didn't draw elk, but still showing deer and antelope as eligible. At least that's what my hunt applications are showing

Yes about 6 close friends and family, considering the move myself. Each and everyone is hard right. Now I wonder since results are out what are all the residents going to cry about next.
Doesn't matter where you're from, or if you're a D or R we're pretty much sick of anybody moving here.
It's destroying what made Idaho such a great place to live in the first place.

And my experience is that just about every one of them I've spoken to who claim to be "hard right" really aren't when you start digging into their beliefs and positions on certain things. Even if you truly are, I have to agree with runamuk as well. Just because you're hard right doesn't mean you and all the rest of the Californians, Oregonians, and Washingtonians aren't ruining Idaho and what it was. You could move every hardcore conservative here and it would still suck. Bringing your hard right politics doesn't preclude you from driving up home and property prices, taxes, traffic, infrastructure problems, and pressure on the environment.

Finally drew some tags after years of not drawing and playing the controlled hunt wars. Drew antelope and unit 55 deer late!!! So pumped for the deer never hunted the area but have dreamed since I was a kid. If anyone has some scouting spots please DM me I am all ears. Born and raised Idaho native btw lol

Congrats Big. I drew a 45 elk tag for October. I'm stoked. I hunted it for antelope a few years ago but haven't been up in the hills of that area too much. Hoping to find some public access and finally get a bull.

Your fellow native Idahoans could certainly offer to sell their homes at a 30% reduced price to those that are native born...upon proof of birth certificate.
