Elevation?

Have been poking around the south slope and wanted to get your observations for those that are/have hunted elk that area:
*What elevation are you finding the elk in this time of year (Aug/Sept)...?
*What elevation are they typically at in the October timeframe? Same? Or different?

I've been looking in the 9000'-10,000' range and haven't been seeing much sign. Too high you think?
Or maybe I'm not even in an area that has many elk...? lol!
I'll probably get roasted by some, but thanks in advance for those willing to help me.

LAST EDITED ON Sep-02-14 AT 01:34AM (MST)[p]I'm sure that a lot of people will say the same thing but elk are where you find them. I hunted the north slope uintas once scouted all summer for the rifle hunt. It was really weird but the elk never left the 8000' to 9000' mark. I went as high as 10,500'. They stayed that way from the first of July until the beginning of the rifle hunt.

With all the rain we had the first couple weeks, I had to move to the low country to find the elk on the S slope. They are moving back up high now.
