Curious what you think is a fair price for an Elk shoulder mount. No habitat, no pedestal. A regular hang on the wall elk shoulder mount.

You usually get what you pay for! I also wouldn't look at cost. I'd shop around and find the best taxidermist possible.

Make sure you are getting an elk done by someone who knows what they are doing because they will become a focal point in any room. There's just no hiding an ugly elk mount. ----SS

$1250 - $1500 is the average here in NM some lower some higher. Supplies and shipping have driven the prices up. No Taxidermist is a millionaire, most folks think it's 100% profit in all actuality we spend close to 45% on materials and shipping. Hell just shipping of one $275 elk form from the supplier is around $50 cut in half so now you spend another hour putting it back together.

Also depends on if it is bugling or not. Open mouth could run another $100-$200

I appreciate everyone who responded. I am surprised the number of people who think an elk mount should cost under $1,000. I don’t see that happening with a really good taxidermist. I know I am picky. Thanks for the replies. Good luck this season.
