Enough power

Is a 6.5 Creedmore with 140 gr. bullet sufficient in a clean kill on a mature billy Mountain Goat?
Placed in the right spot with a well constructed bullet, any goat that ever lived will will be taken cleanly with a 6.5 Creedmoor.
While it's a fine long range target round, it really just a good short to mid range hunting round IMHO. (I use a couple so I have personal data to draw on).

Goats are extremely tough and they are often found in a spot that you want them to drop where they stand rather than run the risk of them running to a place you can’t get to them. Bigger is better for goats imo. Had a friend that shot a goat, it ran to a Cliff ledge and died where he couldn’t get to it. He came back the next day with rappelling equipment to retrieve him and when he got there two golden eagles were on him and had torn him a part. Nothing could be salvaged for a mount.

Bullet selection is also a big part of how effective a cartridge is. What 140gr bullet will you be using?
Also the vitals on a mountain goat are located more forward than a deer or elk. Be sure to study this and place your shot accordingly.
