From Yahoo News:

If you can't access Facebook, Instagram, Messenger or WhatsApp, you're not the only one. Starting at approximately 11:38AM ET, Downdetector began logging a spike in outage reports across all four Facebook-owned services. Andy Stone, a spokesperson for the company, said at 12:07PM ET that the company was working to resolve the issue quickly. The error page you see when trying to connect to the platforms suggests a Domain Name System (DNS) error is responsible for the outage. At 3:52 PM ET, Facebook CTO Mike Schroepfer, who's slated to leave the company next year, said the company was sincerely sorry for the outage but stopped short of offering an explanation of what caused it.

It's not clear how widespread the issue is, but Downdetector shows more than 30,000 outage reports for Facebook alone, with another 20,000 tied to Instagram. Per a tweet from the official Oculus Twitter account, the problem is also affecting the Oculus App, Store and website.

It may take some time for Facebook to resolve the issue. According to The New York Times, the outage has also taken out Workplace, the company's internal communications platform. Additionally, employees reportedly can't receive external emails at the moment. We've reached out to Facebook for more information.

Per journalist Brian Krebs, Facebook's DNS records were withdrawn from the global routing tables sometime this morning."We don't know why this change was made," Krebs wrote in a tweet. "It could well have been the result of an internal, system-wide change or update that went awry. It's all speculation at this point why. Facebook alone is in control over its DNS records."

Back in July, Akamai Technologies, one of the largest content delivery networks in the world, went through a similar outage, leading to a large section of the internet, including platforms like the PlayStation Store, TikTok and LastPass, becoming inaccessible. Akamai eventually fixed the problem later that same day.

Ahhh....so sad. I didn’t notice......
We were sort of chuckling here because I thought I might have finally angered the gods yesterday by posting my 'depression' story on FB.

When I went to use it, I got the 'Something went wrong' error messsage. Thinking the tale might have been deemed inappropriate, I told my wife I was probably sent off to jail for a day or two. But that was quickly dispelled when she logged into 'home page' on Yahoo News with her laptop & saw the message.

Now, I know it concerns you greatly, so I'll be sure to let you know when it's back online.

I know nothing about Facebook, other than it exists. Why do people say "Be sure to like us on Facebook"? Do you get money from Facebook if you get lots of likes? Or do people just have self esteem issues?

Be sure to like my question..... :ROFLMAO:

I don't there's any money involved. I believe the ones who run ads maybe use the likes as a gauge. But the actual 'likes' are no different than here with seven choices, from a 'thumbs up' to 'angry.'

Once you figure it out, it's easy to eliminate all the extraneous noise in your personal 'news feed' where its limited to seeing posts from only those you want, such as designated friends only. You can also limit who sees your own posts, too.

A lot of my inspirational posts here that youse guys rave about are born on FB.

Link to my page. Be sure to 'like' us. :ROFLMAO:

Too bad Twisted Twitter, FB and the others are now up again- for a while there we were heading back to normal life on earth……
