Does anybody have a reference for natural looking fake velvet? Too often I see velvet that doesn’t look anywhere close to natural. I shot a nice buck recently and the velvet ended up ruined and rotted. I’m having a euro mount done but would like velvet applied if it’s possible to get a close to natural look.

Ya most artificial velvet look just that.
There is a guy I believe in Utah that does a better job. I'm thinking his name is Troy something. His mounts are always featured in Trufit taxidermy catelog.

Nothing wrong with a nice looking hard horn buck you can pick it up and not worry about the velvet...! Just color it up and call it a day
