I have a new Rem 700 300 Win Mag and I'm not sure where to start with Factory ammo. I don't handload right now. Maybe in the future I don't know.

I have always shot Federals but I was looking at some other loads.
Federal loads the Accubond to 2900 FPS. Doubletap loads it to 3050.
I was also looking at the new Superformance loads from Hornady but they don't have a 180 grain other than the SST and I'm not sure that's the bullet for Elk sized game. They do load the GMX in 165 grains though.

For you guys that shoot the 300 Win Mag and don't reload, what you you tried and what's your choice of ammo?

I can drive nails with my Reminton
Premier Scirocco Bonded 150GR...oh on my 300RUM. Its a Remington 700 also topped with a Leop III 4.5X14.

This ammo is great for elk and elk. Alot of guys don't like the Remington ammo, but its all about the way it shoots in your gun. The Rem Premier is the only kind I will shoot in it!

just my 2 cents

I started using Federal's Premium Safari ammo with the 180 gr. Trophy Bonded Bear Claw in 2003 in my custom Robar rifle, which is built on a 700 action. The TBCs did the job quite well on several large African critters and about 2 months ago, one accounted for a nice TX whitetail.

you can get all the stuff t reload as far as the equipment fro less than 300. the amount you save is unbelievable and when you cant find ammo it doesnt matter because you can load your own.

I load my 30-06 with 165gr. Accubonds and load them to 2950fps. I can load those for about 12bucks a box. to buy them its prob. 40bucks a box. I also load them to fit my gun and i can shot groups like none other with them.

just a thought.

Call Larry @ Superior Ammunition in Sturgis, South Dakota. They build custom loads for your gun and with factory prices what they are now, the difference between the 2 is minimal. I have used them for 300 wm, 264 wm, 300 Weatherby mag, 220 swift loads and am completely satisfied. It is basically having a professional make handloads for you.
