Had a great time in AZ over the weekend on my first Coues hunt.

It was a blast hunting in the desert in Dec, temperatures were pleasant. We only saw 9 deer between us but one was a reasonable buck. My lower legs are beat up from all of the pokey stuff that grows there.

I can't go till the 25th..
Just put the extra fuel tanks on the jeep. I sleep on 4 inches of foam in my 4 door. Solo desert camp..
Hope to see one the same age as yours. Your first won't be your last love to hunt those spooky little gousts. Good buck!

Very nice buck. Your ""resonable"buck looks to be a good mature Coues. And 9 deer on a first hunt is doing well hunting The Desert Ghost.
DIRTCLOD AZ. Congratulations!

Dididraw. I'm not the guy to ask. I'm a Coloidot.
From the pics I think that has to be at least his 3rd set of antlers? So 4 1/2 minimum? As Dirtclod said mature! Hope more real Ghost hunters chime in. My phone let me spell it right this time. I'm just
Excited it's getting close for me..Thanks for posting your deer I want one!!

Yes, he had some piebald on the inside of his rear legs and belly, I noticed that several of the does had the same thing.

I was surprised at how small these deer are. When I first spotted him I thought he was out of my shooting range. I checked three times with the range finder to be sure it was right - looked further away because of his size. Once quartered I easily fit him into my normal day pack.

Fun animals to hunt. Unique to hunt so late in the season with such pleasant weather.

Good job! Congrats.
