G1 advice

Anyone hunt G1 and the Tehama wildlife area? I drew the tag this year and am looking for areas to scout, tips, anything. We are headed up over Labor Day weekend. Gonna stay at hat Creek and drive on down and look around.. looking at Ishi to start but not sure of much of the area.

The deer in that area are migratory. The deer you'll be hunting during the G1 season will not be around during your scouting trip, they're still up in the high country. You'll still need to apply and get drawn for Tehama in order to hunt it during the G1 season. Weather means deer so pray for weather because it can be a tough hunt if you don't. Good luck!

Copy that! Your correct on the wildlife area and I will find out if I draw that next week.. if not am looking for some good deer populations on public C4 land as the tag is basically a late season C4 tag.. any insight on that? Not really interested in paying for private land access although it's not out of the question. I am from Mendocino county and an experienced A&B zone hunter so looking for above average deer like everyone else lol!

Take an ATV with you and the best optics you have. There are good resident deer there, but there is a lot of ground to cover, and glassing will help a lot.
