They are setting a backfire in the Anderson valley to combat the Ferguson fire. A friend is working cutting trees for line around it says they are getting a good handle so hopefully it doesn't burn everything up.

Anybody that has the tag should check with forests service when it's all over to see what will be closed come this season.

For anyone lucky enough to have drawn the G37 (Anderson Valley) tag, or the archery hunt, the US Forest Service has issued a forest closure for the entire southern portion of the hunt. Basically Pilot Ridge, Five Corners, Moss Canyon, etc south to the Merced River. Also the the southwestern portion of the zone. The order has an expiration date of Sept 30 unless they renew it. Having gone through this in 2013 when I had the tag and the Rim Fire burned the northern portion of the zone, the Forest Service will likely decrease the area closed to just include the burned area prior to the hunt, but you will be restricted in the area you are going to be able to hunt.

Most the area had a good understory burn with some single tree and group torching. The area should have some great feed in the coming years. I did see a few bucks while in there.
