Gored or Shot?

This poor fella has been right off the road up a very popular canyon in the Utah's Cache unit. He's been there for 3 days now. Gored or shot, what do you think? Whichever it is, I hate to see an animal suffer. However, they are tough suckers and he could heal up and live...who knows. Yes, the DWR is aware...

If the left is an entrance would right behind the ribs. And the right is an exit. Definitely not gored.
But if the left is nothing, just funky hair. The right side could be from an antler.
Not much help
Nice picture though

I think definitely gored. Looks like a large, but somewhat shallow wounded. If it doesn't get infected, he could heal up.

Had a Sheila antelope a few years back dragging some of her own gut after we watched he get plowed and subsequently hooked by a rutting buck. The rut can be violent!! Crazy pic!!

I’m going with gored, know of a bull killed by a lucky hunter this year ( guy walked up on two giants fighting and arrowed one after they unlocked) well goes to get the skull cleaned in town for a euro and taxi says he can’t do it, bulls entire skull and jaw are crushed on one side, bull lost most of his molars probably would have died this winter, oh and supposedly it was a 380 bull. I never got to lay eyes on it. The rut is absolutely brutal! Hell bulls will gore and kill cows sometimes when they get too heated. Just nature being natural

He looks like a fighter to me. But he's not going to make another yr. Probably going septic, and trying to keep BP up. His days are numbered. Nature is rough. Death doesn't come easy as people want to believe

Left side looks like his fur is just messed up. Don't have experience with a ML pass-thru on elk but right side looks like a gore to me. That hole looks to be bigger than a softball.

I agree, his days are numbered...with a very low number.

Would it be legal for someone to shoot him and put their tag on him? I wouldn't want to "hunt" this bull, but if it was the last day and I had a tag, I would put him out of his misery.

Let us know the outcome if you can.

Would you eat it?

That's a big ass hole. I would guess that won't heal up as easily as some here think. I'm no doctor but I'd say that will be infected in no time......imagine what the flies are laying in that hole. Gross.
