Gov sheep tag walks!!

>There is a big difference between
>not knowing and being misled
>by the authorities.

Yeah, if you didnt know, you wouldnt call the authority.

You just read the statute, the biologist he called, isnt on wildlife board.

"The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun"

Biologist doesn't have to be on the wildlife board, and the authorities apparently misled them three times not just once.

For whatever it's worth, the permit was listed in the 2016 Expo Auction Catalog as shown below. Both the printed and the on-line versions are identical. They both state "any open unit". Might be advisable to modify this description in the future to cite the exception to open units. No doubt this could be easily added in a few words. Spell check is needed for "Desert Sheep" also...lol.

Hunt any open unit in the State of Utah for Deseret Sheep, Season opens September 1, 2016. This is the ultimate permit if you want the chance to harvest one of the biggest rams in the state. Each year rams scoring over 170 B&C are taken. Hunter is responsible for the cost of the State License Fee. Offered by Utah FNAWS. Utah FNAWS is a 501(c)3 tax exempt charitable organization.
Season Dates: September 1 ? December 31, 2016

Nor was it a Deseret bighorn... :)

But I would imagine the write up read the same for the rocky tag... "any open unit". But since there is a regulation that determines when the Nebo is open for whom it was not an open unit for that tag. It's the hunter's responsibility to know.

This first paragraph is from the article in the SL tribune... http://www.sltrib.com/news/4476856-155/utahs-dwr-takes-blame-for-bighorn

Wade Lemon quote.. Lemon said his clients "put a lot of money into Utah," more than those complaining about the ram. "These knuckleheads ought to be ashamed for spit-balling these people. Those guys who buy a $25 deer tag don't do squat" for habitat conservation, he said.

What a POS...
The North American Wildlife model is 100% against this train of thought. Just because a person pays big money for a tag doesn't give them anymore right to the animals we hunt than the "Knuckleheads" that pay $25.

I truly hope every single person on this site goes to the Hunting Expo next year and takes the opportunity to tell WL, face to face, what a D-bag he really is.

I'm curious. Does WL donate a lot of time, effort, money to conservation? Does he give hunts to organization for fundraising? He might, I don't know. Or does his business just benefit from these sort of hunts?

NVKnucklehead

The guy WL guy is a f'n douchebag for calling other hunters knuckleheads and suggesting that his high paid clients do more for wildlife conservation by way of their $$. The guy should be thanking his lucky stars for these big money tags, not disparaging other hunters for his good fortune.
