The elk deserves some accolades for growing that big in a poor unit on public land. That's a wise old bull.

The bull was shot on winter range right above town where it had come out in the open to survive the deep snow. It let it's guard down thinking hunting season was over and would be left alone. Heck, the bull spent a bunch of time on the Richmond WMA, which I believe is closed to access during January to protect the herds through the winter. Apparently he stepped out of the boundary and got shot, but the situation ain't gonna get much props from me.

Go get him during the season when there are other hunters after him and he's got his guard up and I'll be the first one there to give a pat on the back. I'm just not that impressed with killing a bull on winter range when he's just trying to survive. There's a reason we don't run our elk seasons through January.

i know more then one rich guy hunter that kills 390/400 inch bulls every year. and i always say the plumber that can barley get a weekend off and drops a 290 bull impresses me way more. have similar feelings bout animals the natives kill. any one can kill huge stuff with no limits. i could go kill a 200" buck right now...

Maybe an Idaho bull that spent a lot of time on private, that wintered in Utah my guess. Big old bull with worn down teeth.

It was the North Cache unit. Nowhere did they say they were hunting that bull in September. They just mentioned he'd gone a long way to winter. They easily could have known other people hunting him. I know of someone who was hunting that bull during the HAMS hunt.

i got one for bear bait. trail cams have never really done it for me. running a bunch seems like work. id rather hike up to the ridge and glass to see whats around
I meant so we could see that 200 incher.

And yeah, checking them is a pain. I haven’t looked at mine since October.

oh i see. yeah i don't worry about proving anything to complete strangers. you'll notice i don't post pics either. coyote once in a while but that's it.

i coyote hunt SE and SW Idaho in wintering grounds from October to March. if you know anything about the state or the units, or spend any time in them in the winter you don't really need a picture to know what i'm talking about.

It amazing how everyone gives great credit for someone that gets to hunt bulls from august to the end of January With two guide services with probably 30 or more guys involved and probably hundreds of trail cameras out all fall. Big freaking deal. no one should give a sh1t. It means nothing to me.. also ask yourself is elk and deer hunting doing better now than they were years ago before we had all these stupid auction tags, the answer is no. wise up people.

I enjoy seeing pictures of 200 inchers on the hoof. Shame you don’t think that way.

WLH and Moss are doing a lot better.

It wasn't that long ago that Moss publically swore he'd never guide the gov tag in Utah again because there weren't big bulls left.

Robyn's sugar daddy's wallet, sure can change things.

She must be fantastic

so do i. just don't care if any one else sees what i see. i'm bad about harvest pics too. i barley take any. i don't hunt to share with other people. doesn't matter to me a bit if any one knows what i killed or saw. i was there, and that was the point of me going

I am looking the bulls right side third. I almost feel that might have been shot off given the bullet mark just below on the main beam? So a quartering away shot the bullet grazed the main beam then hit about 8" down the third breaking it off, then they used the license to tape it back together???

Yup….You are going to make a great detective some day. The other point that needs to be made (pun intended) is the fact that the chances of shooting off a point are very high when you shoot from a swinging chairlift.

I heard that shooting from the chair lift was the same as from a vehicle so they actually had her shoot from the ski patrol warming hut. It was converted into a hunting blind... Then they spread out the apples and waited for the bull to cross from Idaho?

REALLY??

You guys make up some stupid crap.

WLH is her guide. They don't screw around with blinds and bait. They just chase the animal to the shooter. Like from closed campgrounds, ALLEGEDLY.

IM SURE "daddy" forked over a big enough ski patrol donation, that they used the snow cat.

Now Hoss,

That’s no way to join our team of arm chair investigators. If you want to be on the team, I’m going to have to ask you to lower your tone of voice on the keyboard and contribute constructively to this investigation where nothing is assumed.

Elks96 and I have a pretty good start on the case👌

Kind of a fair point. And years ago you 2 weaving a yarn about shooting sheep on a closed unit after calling the fisheries biologist in a different unit, then, after walking away, innocently guiding the DWR director on bear, I would have to allow your fiction.

If as a follow up, a tall tale about the same outfitter getting kicked off Antelope Island because they were chasing deer in a closed campground in order to herd them to their shooter, I might allow your current discussion.

However.

As the mayor of realville, my job is to demand that we only discuss things that could be considered fiction, or fairy tale.

Shooting an elk, from a chair lift, or warming hut, for WLH, is just called Thursday. You 2 will need to expand your mind to the realm of unthinkable, then take 2steps past that line.

You knuckleheads, need to pick up your game

I’m not blaming the outfitters, I’m blaming the wonderful fish and game for letting all of this get out of hand and letting the money boys to get tags every year. You know the game is the publics and we should all have the same reasonable opportunity to get a tag. But I know money rules the world.

Much better Hoss,

We may consider you part of the team if you leave us a generous deposit to help stop the abuse of giant public property animals by those with deep pockets.

Furthermore, we may vote you spokesperson for all future MM events involving investigatory work toward the arrest and conviction of such offenders as mentioned in paragraph one.

Swinging shots from a chairlift at vulnerable trophy class animals constitutes a necessity of law enforcement at a Federal level, thereby invoking the powers of O’biden to descend upon all offenders who choose the path of ill consequence.

Let us unite in this cause for justice, as we cannot procrastinate our effectiveness to positively impact the wildlife and hunting community.

Not an insult!

Just a good ole’ MM razz’n!

Life is too short to make enemies!

That’s why I lace my madness with a +99% dose of sarcasm at all times!

And that would be my luck too, on that chair lift!

Murphy always seems to find me no matter what I’m doing 🤣

I did. You're full of 5hit as always.

You must work for CNN

But I'll help you.

The nebo WAS closed. FACT

WLH did call and talk to the Price fisheries biologist. FACT

The Nebo, isn't in the Price dwr area. FACT

WLH did get kicked off the island for wildlife harassment. FACT

WLH did guide DWR director for bear after Nebo FACT

So there you go. Like I said, feel free to actually show proof/evidence that those aren't facts.

This will be fun.

Call Wade(I'm sure he will answer your call, he is "your good friend". FACT- YOU SAID SO HERE).

WMA is open if you have a elk tag they hunt cows there during the late hunt!!

I agree it's sad he made it through all the other hunts and got shot now but it was not poached it was legal .

I'm pretty sure nobody here said it was poached.

I posted above that the bull must've stepped off the Richmond WMA because "I believe [it] is closed to access during January to protect the herds through the winter."

Are you sure the WMA is open in January? I haven't looked into the details and have never hunted there but the DWR map page doesn't say anything about hunters with tags being able to be on the WMA. Here's the screenshot, but maybe there is different info elsewhere.

Because the DWR realized they screwed something up.

I'm not spinning anything. These have been your words. Now you want to say Kalon did it. Can you post a news story or a DWR release that says that?

No thanks, I’ll take your word for it. Everything I know about that, I learned here. That’s plenty.

Coincidentally she was SUPER lucky at expo draws after that

Again. Nice try. Your attempts to spin, tell me you know. You aren't challenging the fact.

The DWR doesn't run the island. So NO, there is no DWR release.

I said WLH, not Wade personally

You act like I've never played this game with you.

I'm not challenging any fact. I'm telling you the fact that makes all your bs irrelevant. Unlike your lame excuses the DWR DID PUBLICLY ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE NEBO RAM. You however are making excuses for having zero evidence of the things you accuse honest business owners of.

You are stuck on the same childish garbage for years that didn't hurt you in the slightest OR ANYONE ELSE.

Face it boy, no matter how hard you cry like the titty baby you are nothing will change the reality that YOU WILL NEVER GET YOUR WAY ON THIS ONE. You lose. WLH will keep being a successful business and you will never be a man.
