Green River Rac Meeting

Well in an hour we will have the dubious distinction of listening to the esteemed statesman of game management in Utah.

Gus pitched a fit all week said he wasn't going to stand and look like a fool asking for something reasonable. But he broke down and is going to take another crack at it.

I'm going to get on board and go with the flow and propose we killem all, that way we can move into the next phase of lion management, the California plan, close the hunt and let ADC handle the problems.

Since Cv and I were in the hound buisness long before he became what will soon be known as a lion specialist, I at least know that in a few years after all you emotionally governed houndsman are out of the way my dogs will get to see quite a few lions in the tree, maybee even more than dawgs.

See you after the meeting.

Hey, if you 'n Gus are buying the beer I'll make the drive down and stand up and talk.

I won't talk about lions or deer, I'll just basically stick to name calling and hurling insults until they toss me out of the meeting.

I got nothin' better to do tonight since both my wife and my neighbors wife are going to some damn Bunco thing. Would anyone else be a bit nervous if both their wife and girlfriend were in the same Bunco club?

Good luck at the meeting. Doesn't matter cuz they got Fishon on their side. Kind of like taking the court and knowing all will be well cuz you got Ostertaag on your side. ;-)

PS. I apologize to Greg O. for that comment. It was uncalled for and a low blow.

Well I have been enlightened, I watched Gus give his spill along with a few others including the boss himself. I am thrilled with the results of the meeting. Boys we will be able to harvest fifty, thats right fifty vile deer killng lions off from the new East Manti units without having to draw a tag. I almost forgot the Range Creek unit numbers were raised by a good margin also.

Gus did get them to consider a 24 hour check in though which upset me, I thought it should be 92 hours.

I learned that when you have a harvest objective unit that never reaches it's objective numbers, the solution is to raise the numbers even higher. Case in point the Dolores triangle unit was raised from 5 to 10 there hasn't been a lion killed since it was made a harvest objective unit.

The manti had the highest fawn to doe ratio 50 to every 100 does yet they feel they need to kill at least fifty lions to ensure the herds survival.

You boys that still have a limited entry unit had better look out your next.I figure the way things are going the California
plan should be implemented within a couple of years.

By the way do you suppose any outfitters will be stacked on the Manti for the opener, he, he, he, If you know of any that need directions let me know I will have a information pack for them including maps.

I also found out the Bookcliffs were discussed in Vernal I live ten minutes away and went to the wrong damn meeting.

But I will do my best to get smith, bear paw , hopkins, loncarich, and the rest of the out of staters the good news.

Mulehound.

Ya, those RAC meetings are a real productive way to spend an evening aren't they Mulehound?

I'd feel better about the use of my time if I sat in a bar all night in Salina trying to balance pretzels on my nose.

Hunters are an interesting group. When our car is broken we take it to a mechanic, when our dog or horse is sick we call or take it to the Vet, when the hard drive on our computer crashes we call the computer store, when our kids are sick we take them to the doctor...

And when it comes to wildlife management, we ask a politician to manage our wildlife for us. Of course politicians will tell you that wildlife management "is all politics". Well hell, I'd say that too. If anyone realizes politics is all about politics and has nothing to do with wildlife management, the politician is out of a job.

I guess we can all sleep easy knowing our wildlife is in good hands with the politicians. They've done a bang up job with everything else.

So I wonder why no one has gotten Rocky Anderson involved in the mule deer lion debate? He knows as much or more about it than the other pencil jockeys managing our wildlife.

My cousin got his degree in Political science but he said he must not have taken the classes that went over all the wildlife management stuff. Oh well, he still wants to get involved. He watched Marty Stouffer once on TV so he knows as much as the rest. Where can I sign him up?

He served 2 internships under Wayne Owens back in DC so if he isn't qualified to manage our deer and lion herd who is? ;-)

Late last night while our Politicians were loosening their ties on the way home from a busy night of managing our wildlife, another deer died quietly and a hungry lion filled his belly, an event that according to our wildlife groups happens approximately 10 million times a year in Utah. But another mule deer will magically appear in it's place somehow...

I thank the good Lord for the men in black suits that manage our wildlife for us. God bless you, every one.
