I have a question for the Alaska boys. I am booked on a sheep hunt in the Alaska Range for 2007. I only shoot a 270, but regardless of the caliber of gun I shoot, should my guide be packing a firearm as a backup for bear problems. My guide says he doesn't pack, and that he hasn't had any problems in 20+years. I have had opinions on both sides. I should not have read Alaska Bear Tales on vacation.haha I have talked to past hunters from this guys outfit. They all saw grizzlies, one guy even saw 8 different bears. None had any problems, but a guy has to go thru some what if senarios when it comes to beasts of this size. Any advise is appreciated.
Thanks,
Bryan
