Havalon question

I used to fell timber for a living but I went broke buying disposable chains for my saw.
Should of bought a custom saw with teeth made from the same steel RELH’s knives are made from (dragons scale if you didn’t already know).

CA Custom Knives are a saw, hammer, and a not so sharp knife all in one! But wait! Check out some recent reviews of CA Custom knives:

“My California custom knife is so AMAZING. I got the RELH model and it cut two avocados and three passion fruits before it needs sharpening “ - Karen in CA

“My California custom knife will become a family heirloom. Never mind the fact I don’t have kids. But regardless this California custom knife elkassassin model (hot pink handle) gutted 3 California blacktail bucks in one day and notched two tags btw. Sure the deer are smaller than dogs but I paid a lot of money for this knife so I want to talk it up”. -Mike in CA

One of my sisters leases one of her buildings to hatchet throwing place. She said the place is always packed. A college town.
I hadn't even heard of it and they already had one here 2 years ago. Now they have something new - it js called escape rooms. You go in with 2 to 8 people and find a way to escape. If someone had egg salad for lunch everyone would want to escape.

Ummm escape rooms have been pretty popular for 10 years now.

slightlysober sounds a little jealous because he does not have the talent to make a knife or even to sharpen one. I am still waiting on those pictures of the custom knives you have been given and are not any good for edge retention. OH! when you take the pictures, be sure to show a recent newspaper with the date in the photo. I would not want you to copy a photo you found on the web. Not that i do not trust you.:ROFLMAO:

Newspaper? I suppose people who read a physical copy of a newspaper would buy custom knives...and viagra.

Do you put a sticker on your knives that say “this contains a substance known to the state of California to cause cancer?

Do you put proudly made in the state of California on there?

Which is worse, a knife from Japan or a knife from California ??

Big difference, Japan is a free country but I’d take the Hatfield

These are all very good reasons to buy a Bob knife. The last one especially as it’s way more entertaining to watch you two argue than it would be to watch someone stand and yell at a machine.

The ONLY reason to own a havalon is because you‘re lazy. Or if you do fish or paws I suppose.

I guess we are not going to see those custom knives that SS claims to have. Then again a Walmart Chinese knife might just be a custom to someone like Slightlysober.

ras1954 after that comment, I am going to have to quit picking on Slightlysober for fear he is going to get a inferiority complex.
He does remind me a lot like Dude and both of them did have a problem with the consumption of alcohol.

Longest run-on sentence:

The only reason to tote 2 lbs of custom knife and sharpener around the hills all day with a good chance you’ll never pull it out to use it on an animal is because your 20 lb 44 mag you need for lion protection needs a companion because your 5 lb belt buckle holding up your chaps that you decided to wear after the small town parade wasn’t heavy enough to make you feel like a man in the hills when there was no one there in the first place to appreciate you for who you think you have become with all your pilgrim gear!

Work smarter, not harder. Carry a Havalon and leave your antiques in grandma’s hope chest

Where do you get 2 lbs. Most custom hunting knives weight about 10 ounces and a small Lansky diamond stone is about 2 ounces.
We are not talking Rambo knives with a 8-10 inch blade. My 44 mag is no where near 20 lbs and I do not wear a 5 lb belt buckle and that goes for most hunters that do not pack a Havalon.
Why don't you just say you prefer to use a Havalon and not make up the B.S. you did above trying to prove your point. Tells alot about your creditability on the point you are trying to make
by slinging the B.S.
I have no problem with a hunter that prefers using a Havalon as I have said before, they have their place. They are just not for me and numerous other hunters that prefer a stronger blade in the field.

RELH,
The last thing I want to do is go dig in my garage and find where my custom knifes are to show a guy from california. Like so many hundreds of thousands of custom knives they sit in a box gathering dust. Some have sentimental value no doubt, but none the less they are in a box.

I've met quite a few knife makers over the years. Everyone with a grinder is a knife maker. The business I own we do a lot of demo. When we bring all the electrical panels for the 800A+ gear back to the shop the local knifemakers stop by to get the glastic barriers to use for handles. Some are even using the metal for various parts of the knife. Typical knife makers are the same, old grouchy bunch that think they are doing something someone else isn't doing. But its all been done before. You're not making any sharper of a knife than has already been done. I suppose you re angry because a knife can be produced in CHINA for 5 cents that you have hours on. And it will be just as sharp as your custom knife, more durable (plastic vs wood) and priced reasonable.

I guess when you can't stand longer than 5 mins to take a pee, your eyesight is shot, and you got the shakes from all the prescription pills you're on, you should use a custom knife. They are not as sharp as a havalon so less risk of cutting yourself.

Does RELH offer an AARP discount? Or a AAA discount? Does your sales spike the week after social security checks are issued?

Do you make a custom knife with a first alert device installed so theres a button to hit when you fall down and can't get up?

These are serious questions. Are knives even legal to be made in CA? How can you call a HUNTING knife a KNIFE if its made in COMMIE CALIFORNIA?

DO YOU NOT TAKE A SHEATH MOTHER #%$@#$@? That adds up too.

AND WHY YOU TAKING A DIAMOND STONE? You said your knifes can do 4 animals no problem . WHICH IS IT? Typical california flip flopping!

:p :D ;)

Slightlysober you are the idiot of this forum and I believe a outright lying fool. You act like a juvenile in the sandbox that got his toy taken away.
One reason I never moved from CA. would cause me to worry that I would end having a neighbor of your caliber.
You were the one that mentioned taking a sharpening stone that would add to the weight. I just showed you were full of B.S. with that statement. I have doubts you even know a good knife maker that can make a good custom knife. From what you described they are beginners trying to learn the craft and you are too dumb to know the difference. Good thing you do not own a good custom knife as you strike me as a fool that would put it to a 80 grit grindstone to sharpen it

This is funny too. The first year was a learning experience. But, now I can bag up an elk in warp speed with a Gerber Vital. mtmuley

Impossible. What if you need to beat something during the field processing?

All I read was California is so great! I love not being able to use a custom knife on a mountain lion (would only have to resharpen the blade 8 times to do so).

Scared to leave California! Good grief!

Why do you need a stronger blade? You carving rocks? Can’t control the retard strength?

I'm glad we have the choice. I carry a flip assist in case my string gets in trouble (probably my fault) a havalon for the dirty work, but none of those have a soul. I can admire a peice of art, a handmade custom knife. They've all got their place and purpose.

I am finished with trying to have a intelligent conversation with outright idiots that do not know their butt from a hole in the ground.

I guess I can see why folks carry those 2 lb custom buck skinning knives around. They do make great bottle openers on those days in the field when ya ain’t seeing much to shoot and gut.

Plus, you can pull it out and sharpen it in your spare time between cold snacks and practicing your quick draw. Happy trails.

Kinda sad. I'm caught between this life and the next. I'm proud of this life, I admire the next. You're going to create amazing things, things that my back knees and hips will cuss you for not haveing created sooner! My time may be shorter than yours, but I'm still gonna grit my teeth and give you all I've got. Probably more than some of you can bare, but there's a few of you......you're my people.

Sorry Zeke, made me think of your son....odd a man would think about another man he's never met. But I think of your son often....

It is amazing some guys can turn into total jackasses over the fact a guy prefers a costume knife over a Havalon.
And we wonder why this country is imploding right before are verry own eyes.
I own a Outdoor Edge dame concept as the Havalon but I believe a little better knife, I own a couple costume knifes and I own a couple production line knifes.
They all do the job!
Cut things.
