Hi all, I am new to posting, but i have followed for a while. I figured this would be a good place to get some advice. I have a buck from last year which is in velvet, and the skull and velvet has been freeze dried. I want to do a European mount on it. However, the skull itself is still not clean, so I was thinking I would have to boil it, but I worried about the velvet. Any tips on keeping the velvet intact while also being able to efficiently clean the skull? Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks thanks

My taxi cuts velvet horns off, cleans skull, then reattaches horns with peg/holes. If its not record book size this is one way to do it.

There is a product for perserving velvet: brush it on w paintbrush or spray on: bess maid is manufacturer. Have seen deer he s done with it though i have not used it myself. Looks good to me and thats what he recommends.
