I finally got around to downloading pictures. These photos came from one canyon, all taken in a half mile stretch. The central mountains have about 5 ? feet of snow with a very hard and dense snow crust on top. We are finally seeing a little bit of southern exposers opening up, but not fast enough. The Deer are dying, the three towns in the Wood River Valley have a lot of deer in towns looking for food . The Elk in the northern exposers are all trapped in the creek beds. It's like a frozen tundra and won't warm up. We will be lucky if we don't loose all of this years fawn crop. It's a predator field day out there.

Looks pretty tough up their. Hopefully with this warm weather moving in we can get some relief. Keep your fingers crossed.

That's terrible. Deep, crusty snow is tough on the critters. We are starting to work in to spring, hopefully we can get some relief. Also hope for a gradual green up. Lots of deer don't maker it due to gorging their selves on fresh green before their enzymes have adjusted.

If I lived in one of the mountain valleys I'd be sure to keep a rifle in the back seat 24/7.

Make hay on any coyotes or wolves you see driving.

Thanks for posting that hawkbill
I sure hate seeing that though. I hope you get some relief soon.

Chit. It's tough all over. Colorado is flirting with hard times too right now. Give me a holler sometime Bill.
