Look at the time line of these pictures. On this day, my FIL and I worked on a blind on a high spot about 200-300 yards above this bedding area. About an hour later, we left the blind spot and walked down to check a camera I had set up in some pines. We were not being quiet at all. This is what transpired after we left the pines around 1:00pm.
A very nice bull came "back" in and bedded right in front of my camera.

So an elk showed up where you were making noise an hour previously, what's so interesting about that?

I've had several people tell me that you should never set up in a bedding area because you will blow the elk out into the next zip code. Well, that's definitely not the case. I find that interesting. I'm feeling pretty good about this area this fall.

Whitetails aren't too different. Blow a path through the woods with a piece of equipment and in a few hours the deer are there to investigate. It's not uncommon to find deer tracks in my boot prints on my way OUT of the treestand.

But a big old bull in your scenario is pretty cool.
