LAST EDITED ON Nov-21-06 AT 03:20PM (MST)[p]is any one other than me wondering what the hell is the Iraqi president going to vist the Iranian president for, isn't that kinda like treason against the USA?...

Why the hell are we allowing this, clearly we are (USA) not friends with Iran, are we again wasting or kids life's and $'s for another back stabbing muslum country?...

There isn't much we can do about it if we want to let Iraq govern themselves like we say we do. the Iraqi and Iraian leaders have met before and are on good terms, now Syria is joining in it appears. We can pull out of Iraq and let Iran come to Iraq or we can stay and have Iraq go to Iran. the bottom line is they are all muslims and they'll band together until we're out of the picture then we'll see what they really become. all we really are from here on out is a cash cow, we tried to put a puppet government in power but we couldn't find anyone willing to play along it seems.

LAST EDITED ON Nov-21-06 AT 04:17PM (MST)[p]The Iranian and Iraqi have official exchanged ambassadors and have full diplomatic ties to each other. In addition the two countries have signed a formal agreement to strenghten economic and political ties back in Sept. when Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki visited Iran.

If the Iraqi Government has a prayer of surviving after the U.S. pulls they will have to have a relationship with Iran. In addition it is Iran that is fueling the Shiite insurgency. providing training, explosive expertise and most of the modern weaponry now showing up on the battlefield. It is in the Iraqi governments own self interests to see to it that Iran will be a "friendly" neighbor. In addition President Talibani is a Kurd and therefore has another personal reason for traveling to Iran. Iran has it's own "Kurdish Problem" just like Turkey does. The Kurdish minorities in all three countries wish to form an independent Kurdistan. The Iranians are looking for help from Talibani to help control the Kurds and Talibani is looking for help from Iran to stop arming the Shia Miltia.

Not a whole lot the U.S. can do to stop the Iraqi government from visiting Iran.

LAST EDITED ON Nov-21-06 AT 04:54PM (MST)[p]The United States is actively trying to hold open dialouges with all these conutries as well. It's just that they won't talk with us unless we meet their idiotic conditions. This is a step in the right direction for both us and Iraq - it means that the Iraqi government is recognized as being sovereign by other Arab nations- we should encourage them to do so. They are neighboring states - for us to consider it as "treason" is just like us expecting Mexico not to meet with Guatemala after the Mexican-American war, or more to the point, expecting Japan not to meet with China after WWII. We have to remember that Iraq really doesn't consider us as an "ally", we are a conquering force that is helping them re-establish a democratic form of government - hopefully we can in the future consider them allies in the same sense that the Japanese and the Germans are now. Granted they are not our allies like Great Britian and France, but they are not our enemies like North Korea, China and Iran. In the aftermath of WWII - Japan and Germany were not necessarily friendly towards us - but being defeated they recognized our responsibility to help them beuild their nation back to strength. As a consequence, we have not had any hostilities with these countries since then and have established a healthy trade and business relationship (I am just saying the relationship is healthy - lets not get into who it is healthy for!). Despite the hostilities in Korea and Viet Nam the US presence in Japan has helped in a great part to stabilize Asia and we have been able to mitigate the threats that were present there prior to WWII. The same thing happened with Germany - our success in the Cold War (and by success I mean lack of war with Russia) had a lot to do with the fact that our presence in Germany and Poland and other Western European states helped stabilize the region. Hopefully this will happen with Iraq and Afghanistan over time. Maybe Iraq is a key to stabilizing the middle east - maybe it is a way that we can nuetralize the threat the Iran poses to us. Maybe having over 100,000 troops parked next to his borders makes Amenizajhd think twice about his relationship with us - he may threaten but he knows he is in for a long and protracted conflict if he does threaten Israel or Iraq or Suadi Arabia or the Kurds. That is a can of worms he doesn't want to open - despite his threats and posturing.

Proverbs 21:19 (why I hunt!)

Simple. Iraq sees the US cutting and running after the new congress takes over and needs to make nice to the neighbors so they can survive without US military protection.

And then they can join forces and kick Isreial of the face of the earth.

"RKBA....ALL THINGS CONSIDERED"

Now after the worst day of violence in Iraq since the war began the Shite members of the Iraqi government have said they will boycott and maybe quit if Al-Maliki meets with Bush. Iraq is a lost cause.
