I Get Home & I See A Fresh Set of Tracks in My Field!

The Snow Is Deep & Most Deer Have Left for Lower Ground!

I Get To Looking & SOB!

I've Got a Fresh Shed Laying in My Field not Too Far From My CHUM Bucket!

The Buck Has Left!

And I Can Guarantee I Wouldn't Be Spooking Anything to Retrieve it!

I Don't Really want the Sun To Bleach it for a few Months!

DWR is Claiming You Can't even Pick up Sheds on Private Property!

I Heard a few Guys Claiming they've been Pickin a Few Up Way Earlier than Normal this year!

Guess it Ain't Much Early Now!

I'm Thinkin about gettin a Trail Cam Set Up on it!

What You Guys Think?

That's right that deer horn in your hay stack is not your until April 1st so leave it alone

OK Todd!:D

The ones i know will probably keep it .Here is a question for you if they don't want anyone out walking around what are they going to do with the hoods in the woods they have camps all over the place on BLM and they walk around all day and i know for fact they pick up horns

>Pick it up then if you
>get busted post up how
>much the citation is so
>we all know

LOL!

Some of You will "Chance" the Fines won't You?

The Same Bunches You Speak of have been Illegally Cutting Fire Wood & Leaving Trash all over the Place for years!

Haven't done anything about them in Forever!

LAST EDITED ON Feb-02-17 AT 08:14PM (MST)[p]Bess, take your blue plastic tarp and cover the shed so the sun will not bleach it white. when shed hunting is allowed, go pick it up. Be sure to stake the tarp down so the wind will not blow it off the shed.
Also put your camera on it. So when a illegal shed hunter steals the shed and your blue tarp, you can I.D. him and prosecute for petty theft.

RELH

P.S. Bess I forgot about your rotten luck, the thief will probably also steal your trail camera along with the shed and tarp.

That's the ones , last year when they move back to forest they left a wall tent out there all summer i should of took it. 4 or 5 years ago they left a tent and the wind had torn the hell out of it and bent the frame beyond repair and they never did clean it up. But they pay the BLM a butt load of money so it must be ok

JUDAS RELH!

I Shoulda Never Mentioned the Shed!

Now I'm Risking the Shed,Trail-Cam & Blue Tarp!:D

Well drive over it and have your tire pick it up.

Or have a dog get it. Dog don't know better.

Just don't pick it up. You might offened some sensitive people out there

>Call the DWR they will hold
>it for you

Better yet, call deerkiller and he'll come pick it up for you. After all, they can't legally close a season that was never open and it won't hold up in court:)

Bess, there comes a time when you gotta make a stand! That shed is yours just like the grass is Bundy's! What are they gonna do about it? Lavoy you? Whatever happened to that smoking hot cherry barrel stuff? Don't be a puzzy!

Bess don't do it! That sheds chipped by the F&G! They are just teasing you with it wanting to see how long you can handle having that thing in sight before you go nuts and pick it up! Then after the draws when you draw San Juan, they will storm your place, accuse you of shed poaching and take your tag away!

That's what I Thought!

A Chipped Shed!

And NVB!

That'd be My Luck,Get LaVoyed over a Shed on My Own Property While Other Illegally do as they Please!

But Last Time I Checked this is 'My' Ground/Land so The Smoking Hot Cherry Barrel Still Stands!

Found one in our haystack couple weeks ago...its on MY private poerty and I picked it up.....The King doesn't want me to pick up royal crown...get there asses out here and keep their animals off my property...
I live in Wyoming..its legal...I can't believe some of the UTARD policy...

Problem is Longun!

TARDS Have Turned Sheddin in to a Big Deal here in TARDville!

I Totally Agree with You Though!

This is 'My' Land!

I Don't See How the DWR can Dream up a Law Over Night & Tell You You Can't Pick up Sheds off of Your Own Private Property!

I Do Agree With them Shutting it Down on Public Property for the Welfare of Our Deer Herds!

Wondering what Hawkeye knows about this?

I Understand just because You Own the Ground doesn't mean you can do as You Please!

But SWEET GEEZUS!

Truth is you can't do much of anything without big brothers permission and paying a fee!

LAST EDITED ON Feb-03-17 AT 05:33AM (MST)[p]Who cares it is a shed that's the problem with you basin folk you guys act like it's crack. Good luck bess I bet you have 20 tweekers with their eyes and grubby thieving hands all over it

You should have picked them up yesterday. Didn't you read the message from the DWR?

"Effective Feb. 3, you cannot gather shed deer, elk or moose antlers in Utah until April 1."

You would have been totally legal to pick them up.

LAST EDITED ON Feb-03-17 AT 08:48AM (MST)[p]Will you show us a pic of the shed at least it's going to be a long 2 months. Here's a ? you can still hike the winter range and spot sheds right you just cant pick one up. Also can you stash sheds. I believe there will be some serious stashing this year.

Oh Bess, that's quite a dilemma.

You might want to do a little snow removal ON YOUR OWN LAND and if the item in question happens to get pushed over in front of your driveway then it becomes trash and a hazard to you and those around you. You'd be forced to remove it, in a effort to protect the public at large, and then promptly place it in a trash can, which you'll conveniently forget to dump for a couple months, Then you'll open the can on April 1st and have a wonderful little surprise.

Or

just leave the damn thing in your field and don't fret about it.

The cow elk hunters in January aren't allowed to pick up sheds.

The irony is laughable.

Lawmakers believe that creating more laws solves the problems. Enforce existing laws!!

Query: Can I pick up the antlers laying in my yard that I threw out there last year?
If my dog drags home an old chalky antler, can I pick it up?
If a trashy buck drops an antler on my driveway, will the division replace my flat tire?
Division is treading on thin ice. Perhaps they should try the carrot before the whip.

Seems like it would have been beneficial for the DWR to simply make a public appeal for shed hunters to be considerate of the conditions.

Even better, imho, create a reward system for providing evidence leading to prosecution of individuals harassing wildlife. Perhaps a day of shed hunting on antelope island prior to the open day to anybody who provides video evidence.

Think of it... the guys that are keeping the state's wildlife alive, putting up with deer/elk feeding off their haystack on their private land, are told they are forbidden to pick up an antler that drops their. Pathetic governance.

Instead, he/she should leave the antler their so that a trespasser can sneak in and snag it. Y'all know it'll happen. This law benefits those who will not abide by the law. Those guys don't care about the law.... they care about bragging rights, trophy antlers, $$$.... The criminals are grateful for the policy. They know that they can take complete advantage of the situation now.

One last thing.. how about policy that condones an ass-whoopin for trespassers, poachers and wildlife harassers.

Is it really hunting though..?? Ya know, like guys who put out apples and hang a treestand over it, or put up a blind next to it..??

"Therefore, wo be unto him that is at ease in Zion!" 2 Ne. 28: 24

I Don't get what the drama is about, if you stop for a second and ask yourself, why is the fish and game doing this? its a simple answer to me, the snow is deep and they want to help the animals. is there other stuff that could be done like stop hunting cows in January etc. yes but in the end they are just trying to do something as simple as not picking up horns for a little while to help them out. is that not what they are paid to do. would you guys complain if all the deer are dying and they were not doing anything about it?

I's sure most guys are not chasing deer and elk around trying to get horns but everybody knows 1 or 2 guys can ruin it for everybody and some guys are always going to do what they want, and do not have any respect you can always "call them to come pick it up" but it just ruins it for everybody else.

there are a lot of coyotes this year maybe some of you horn hunters should get out and shoot some dogs, I'm pretty sure Utah has a bounty on them you could make some money and the fish and game did not close it down it is still open.

I also understand the complaint about private property, I do not think they can control that but I think they were probably just trying to make it equal across the board for everybody.

Well Guys!

At 11:45 PM on Feb 2nd I Went Out with My Dewalt Light & To My Surprise it wasn't a Shed!

It Was two Sheds!

A Matched Set!

>Pics or it didn't happen.

Knew that was coming!

Last Time I Tried downloading Pics off my Flip Phone I Got Reminded of How I Don't know WTF I'm Doing when it comes to downloading Pics!:D

>And now we got the Elkass
>spotlighting for sheds???

Just Gathering Them When I Know For Sure The DWR Boys are Sleeping!:D

Stupid question from an easterner...why is it illegal to pick up a shed? (Utah I'm guessing.) It is because the wildlife department thinks that rodents will not survive the tough winter conditions unless there are sheds to gnaw on? Inquiring minds want to know!

Might be part of it!:D

It's Actually the TARDS Pushing Game around during Winter/Spring Months with Lots of Snow on the Ground making it Tougher on Our Herds to Survive!

It'll Be No Different than the Millions Of Illegal ATV'ers I Scream about every year!

Got All these Laws with very little Enforcement!

I live here, and I to this day don't understand the shed hunting thing. To me its like going to the porn convention in Vegas every year. Dudes go every year to see what they couldn't get. Then, just they grab a "set" and have a pic taken to prove it, and send it to their buddies? To each their own I guess.

As for Bess, did you contact TRI first, or were you gonna wait until after you got charged with shed poaching?

Hey Hoss!

I Think I made it Happen about 15 Minutes before I Woulda been Labeled a 'Shed Poacher'!

Now if another PISSCUTTER comes in to the CHUM BUCKET & Sheds,I Don't know what I'm gonna do?

I Might have to get ahold of TRI & See Exactly How I Go about doing things!:D:D:D

I'm not sure the DWR has jurisdiction with this rule on private land. If the shed is in your field and not on the animal, it's not their property anymore.

CAT, I was on my way through and spotted your blue tarp in a field, I had to take it cause it was just laying there.... no one around :) Dam nice bucks you got in your area! :D
