A Kentucky Archery/Crossbow elk. It's not mine , I just saw this on the outfitters Facebook page. Listed as being 369.

Kentucky is a tough draw. For a non resident archery/crossbow odds are 1/776. For rifle 1/1137

They hunt them mostly on reclaimed coal surface mine land so lots of roads and access. Most of them recovered whole.

Why would you even leave it whole? That looks like three times the work just quartering the damn thing would be. Guess there probably a bunch of white tail hunters though...

The Appalachian elk like those reclaimed strip mines. In some places, it's easy to get an ATV to. In others, he would come out in many, many pieces...one at a time!

Tennessee has a random draw for 7 archery and 7 gun tags. Maybe I'll get lucky and draw one day.
