Kodiak deer?

The lodge I wanted to go with is booked up for several years. that's a good sign I suppose but not good if you're not booked.

Where would be the best place to find a book class deer? I'd prefer DIY but I wouldn't rule out an outfitter.

Stay Thirsty My Friends

First Kodiak adventure planned for this year. I am taking my dad up for 10 days in August/September and working on finalizing our drop location. Looks like our first choice lake was in one of the "localized above-average winter kill" areas, debating on moving our drop point to another part of the Island.

The above comment is spot on...winter kill doesn't matter too much until 6 months before your trip is planned. That said, for a 2019 hunt, your mature buck cohorts will have had great recruitment due to easy winters of 2013, '14, and '15. Arguably, those are the more important winters to consider if you're only targeting upper-end caliber bucks.
