Hell of a bull! Nice job and congrats.
Tell us a little about the encounter, I got two days till I leave for the Gila.

It was a pretty windy day and I was up high glassing a burn. I saw him get up around 5-5:15pm and start feeding about 310 yards away. It took me a few minutes, but with the noisy wind, some good stalking terrain, and him making a bunch of noise in the thick cat claw, I was able to stalk into about 46 yards. I was perched on a small cut right above him and had all the time in the world. He gave me the broadside shot and I double lunged him! It was an awesome experience, but now a fun pack out :)
Oh well, that’s all part of the fun. This was my first gila hunt and it lived up to its name.

Opening day I actually did a 1200 yards stalk across the burn and got up to 4 yards on a bedded bull. The bull was a 6x7 and would have been my biggest, but it was opening day and not really what I wanted for a gila bull. Let me try to post pics.

Wow that back end is friggin' awesome!! CONGRATS. Share the story with us!! +1 Mozey, karma pays both ways

Great bulls. Wednesday was foggy and cold in the wilderness as well. They bugled all day. Called in a small 6x6 for my buddy. It was the hardest pack out ever. I’ll never do it again without horses.

Tallpine, did that bull break off his g4? Looks broke in one pic but not broke in another.

He did break about 9” of his g4 off. My camera man got some good angles getting the others behind it. I have trail cam pics with it intact in velvet

This was him in July. Found him and his home the afternoon before and he was in Rome and he had about 10-15 cows.... we were on another 370 type bull as well and they got together. I got on him the next day at 3 and he was all alone. I think the other bull whooped up on him a bit he did have a few gore hole in his back as well as breaking his 4th

"Called in a small 6x6 for my buddy. It was the hardest pack out ever. I’ll never do it again without horses."

LOL--"small" being a relative term...

Much congrats to you guys too! I've said the same thing myself a number of times. Somehow a little bit of time passed makes all the pain seemingly go away...

Very nice, how is that CFMOTO?
I love it. I Bought it for hunting. It did great out there and then some. Its smaller than other utvs a bit but was able to go thru some roads that other utvs wouldnt be able to get thru. Put about 600 miles.on it from the 30th til the 9th and handled all the rocky roads pretty easily.

Well here’s a unit 45 bull I was thankfully able to harvest. After the shot,I was skeptical about the shot due to only about 10” of arrow penetration. After a long 3 hour wait the track was on. After several hundred yards with no blood or no tracks to follow, that sick feeling started to settle in. With the help of the Esquibel brothers, we started to comb through the hillside and we were finally able to catch up to my expired bull. Turns out the 10” of arrow clipped his lung. Thanks to the Esquibel brothers horses for the easiest pack out to date. (y)

Congratulations to everyone some amazing bills were killed !

Do not measure the success of your hunt on the harvest. If you do, you miss all the little amazing things you experienced and did not even know it. Great post freaknasty for reminding us what is really important. Tag soup for me but had a blast. Good luck to the muzzle hunters go getter done left you some good ones.
