Leupold 12-40 X 60 owners

After much consideration and contemplation, I purchased one of these scopes and after using it today for the first time at the range, I'm a little disappointed. Not sure if it's a bad scope or if the performance was pretty standard.
When using your scope at the range, are you able to see your shots on a paper target at 200 yds at 40 power? Seems like I should be able to. That's one of the reasons I bought a scope so that I wouldn't have to make the walk back and forth to the target. Maybe I'm expecting too much. Do I have a bad scope or is this pretty standard for a 40 power scope?

I can see .50 BMG holes at 200 yards with mine....

How easily? Do you think you could see .270 holes?

I know you sure can't see your holes at 1,000 even with a swarovski. Better get your hiking boots on.

use shoot-n-c targets i can see 300wm holes at 500y with my scope set at 40x

Exactly use the shoot and see. They make sighting in a piece of cake as long as you hit the target that is. Good luck.
