Just want to clarify that when you purchase an AZ hunting license it is good for a year from the day you bought it, correct? So, if I buy my license on Feb 9 this year the last day to put in and next year the last day is on Feb 8, can I use the same license? I know deer tags are good for calendar year but want to clarify on the license.

yes that is correct. Arizona allows you to choose your valid dates for your license when you purchase it (you can actually buy the license today and make it valid 2/9/21 - 2/8/22), so I always select the last day of the application period for the current year which runs through the last valid day of the application the following year. Two years of elk apps with one license.

If you apply for deer and sheep that kinda screws it up, but just alternate back and forth to get as much license as you can for applications.

FWIW, if you apply for elk and sheep every year for the next 40 years, you'll have to buy 40 annual licenses. No way around it under the current rules. But it's worth it to me, to at least have a slim long-shot chance at drawing a DBH sheep license.

I bought my license last Sunday and put the start date as Feb 1st. I apply for deer as well, so the actual start date isn't that important for trying to get two elk applications on one license.

Good luck!

Actually, it IS important when you buy your license . If you do it as late as possible before the deadline you can get a year and a half out of one license. For example - last year the elk/antelope draw deadline was 2/11/20. So if you bought your license on 2/10/20 you could have used it for last year's elk/antelope, last year's sheep/deer, and this year's elk/antelope (deadline of 2/9/21). Then you buy your next license this year on the sheep/deer deadline and possibly get next years elk/antelope and sheep/deer out of it.
This is what I have done.

This saves the cost of one licens every three years obviously the calendar slides back once in a while too and impacts this benefit or if you actually draw a license and need to have a valid license during the season
