Mako shark fishing

I haven't fished for them out of huntington beach but have out of Dana point and newport beach. The area off of laguna beach has deep water within 1/2 mile of the shore which makes for better shark fishing. The biggest mako I have ever seen was less than 3/4 miles off abalone point in laguna. That shark ate a bait off the back of our boat and spooled an 80W international with 100 lb. A week later a harpoon boat took a shark from the same exact area that was over 1000 lbs. I think it was the same shark. Any way off huntington I would say your best bet would be 14 mile bank or the north drop off of Horseshoe kelp. JMO
