Sitting on 16 points as a resident, and thinking about burning them this year. While i was building those points I was hunting the Idaho panhandle for bears every year. Have plenty of bears under my belt from hounds and archery over bait. For some reason I just prefer sitting over bait.

My issue is time and establishing baits. I just don't know if I can dedicate the time to establishing baits. I did some goggle searches and am not seeing any outfitters that hunt bait, seems like all the guides are using hounds. Anybody aware of a guide or outfitter that uses bait? Thanks in advance

You can glass bears up fairly easy in the LaSals.

I know several people that have baited bears on the SJ. None have had any problems getting a bear. They take a big bunch of bait (like 500lbs each site) down and set their baits. Then come back in a week and start hunting. They all have had multiple bears on their baits.

Try BTO. I believe they guide for summer bear hunts on the SJ unit.
