Had to hang my mule deer on the new wall to see how it would look.

Great idea and look on your wall! I did a similar wall to enhance my mounts wall also, what a difference this did to bring out how well my mounts look. Super simple day project too. Had one of those days that I just didnt need to be at work so I bailed. Went to the hardware and picked up some 1x6s and some 1x1s, I had some assorted stains in different colors and I chose three colors and stained the 1x6s. I installed the 1x1s as nailers so i wouldn't destroy the wall behind. I cut the stained boards in various lengths and just started piecing it together, stopping to look at from afar to make sure I wasn't patterning and getting a good variation on the wall. 12hrs later my wall was done and the mounts were up and I sure was proud and it changed the whole look of the room and house. Fun and cheap project.
