what happens when you tape over your barrel and brake to keep water out, when you shoot. will it melt the tape on the barrel

I put tape over all my barrels while hunting, whether braked or not. As stated, blows right off without any adverse effects to accuracy.

Electrical tape seems to hold up better IMHO.
I've used balloons but the first scrap on brush and they rip open.

I usually put a couple wraps of tape around the barrel, a couple inches from the muzzle, just to have some spare tape since when you shoot, the first tape is mostly gone and it might still be raining, or dusty or snowing after the shot.

Since I'm old, my Trekking poles are always close by. Therefore, I have chosen to wrap one of my poles rather than my barrel. I'm funny about not wanting to effect accuracy because I can't shoot nearly as straight as Zeke. I know because I have seen him shoot. Oh man he's a straight shooter.
I'm sure a few wraps of tape on the barrel won't hurt, but hey I need every advantage I can get.
