Nothing new around my place..been doing it for over 20 years...Great Marriages have to have time outs for both the man and the women..

Think time apart makes you stronger as a couple. Married 20 yrs to the wonderful lady and 12 of those years we were both active duty so allot of time apart (think around 6 yrs total). Now both of us retired military and I can contest to the fact that time away is still necessary to keep us grounded and sane.

Married over 45 years now and I see that time apart is a necessary part of OUR lives.
We don't actually take a full year and separate but we do our own thing quite regularly and it works for us.
I think that both partners have to be very secure and independent or it won't work well at all.
