Does anyone have any feedback on the hunt from 2021? I live just over the border in Idaho and drew a returned tag as of yesterday. Will be scouting over the coming weekends.

I picked that tag up last year on the FCFS as well, freaky early winter weather, I wasn't able to hunt the first few days due to work commitments and getting that tag the day before season. I don't think my experience was typical due to the snow. The snow was knee deep on top of Copper. Hunted hard for 8 days, didn't see a ton of elk but found elk everyday, killed the biggest bull I found on day 8 burried in a little pocket of aspens in a cut of sage. Not a giant but respectable, probably 320-330 ish. Again, my expectations where rut hunt with a gun and it turned into what felt like a late season hunt in blowing snow like 6-7 of the 8 days I was there, I don't think that's typical, just how it shook out last year. Also keep in mind I'd never been to the unit so I was digging out the country as I went.

I was in there in last year for cow elk in Sept. Saw a few nice bulls. Had dustings of snow above 8000 feet and thought what the bull season would be like. Guess I was close in my thoughts based on arrowslinger10's actual experience.

Let me know if you'd like more intel.

Sounds like an adventure, any elk is a good elk in that environment!

Thanks, I will be camping near Jarbridge this weekend and plan to scout hard and drive out the Charleston-Jarbridge road. Might even loop over all the way to Mountain City just to get the total picture.

Last year I saw a huge bunch with some good bulls on the west side of Copper. Better take your hiking boots! We spotted them from the opposite side of the river.

Update: Shot my bull yesterday, brutal pack out but worth every step.
