So they say Fanny and Freddie will each cost the tax payer 100 billion dollars to patch up.

I'm not against lending a hand but this is socialism on a large scale, and both parties are to blame. so is this a special situation with no other options or a new era of painless investing? I don't like it one bit but I'll admit it's complicated and important to the health of the economy, I just wonder if the short term joy justifies the long term damage from this kind of action.

Dude, this is the first post you have made that I 100% agree with you.

Fanny and Freddy put them selves in this position so I cant say much about the Gubberment stepping in.

However, mark my words down the road we will regret this. Another government bureaucracy.

Greed is what got us here. I was in the lending business for 17 years and what happened in the early 90s is not as bad as this. Lessons were not learned and now the greed of the industry will hurt us for a long time not just the next couple of years.

This move for the govt to take over assures that.

This type of action is the exact type of policy the Europeans used, mostly the french. Yes Dude this is socialism at its best. This type of sh%$ needs to stop. I hear the auto makers allready got their hands out now looking for a bailout.
